How To Season Your Stoneware!

Instructions:
1)When you remove your piece of stoneware from
its packaging, you will be tempted to wash it and use
it. Stop right there! First drizzle a little vegetable oil
or spread vegetable shortening on to the cooking
surface of the stoneware. Remember that seasoning
is a time-consuming process.

2)The best and quickest way to get stoneware seasoned
to perfection is to just keep it in your oven while you
bake things on a regular basis. After each session of
baking, spread another layer of oil or shortening and
return to the oven for safe keeping.

3)After approximately 5 baking sessions at an average
of 350 degrees, you should notice a definite darkening
of the stoneware.

4)When the piece of stoneware has darkened at least
3 times its original shade, it should be seasoned enough
to use without baked goods sticking.

5)To wash, just rinse with a soapy washcloth. Directions
tell you never to wash with soap and water. However, a
soapy washcloth is not soap and water. Never submerse
the stoneware in a sink full of water. Occasionally, season
your stoneware again by drizzling oil or spreading shortening
and baking it in a low-temp oven (300 degrees) for a few
ours.
